The Spoken Word Revolution

I am in debt to Art Director Megan Moulden who asked me to help with the design and layout of this book. This book earned us first place for overall design at the 2003 Chicago Book Clinic. Each design element was chosen for its edgy beauty. The font Porcelain is used, with its beautiful script, as an edgy ornamental detail almost like blobs of ink from the poets pen. We minimized the images to a photocopied look and turned all of the internals to 2 colors for printing. This piece became what it is because of a great collaboration.

The War of the Worlds

This was a redesign of the hardcover to paperback. The book used original War of the Worlds images and married the book with the radio broadcast. There is a 16 page color tipin to show images where color was essential.

Ink Station

When Ink Station opened its first store they wanted a clean, green way to promote their ink cartridge refilling business. Their hope was to achieve a big store look with a neighborhood feel. The ink droplets in the shape of the recycled logo made a big impact on their community. The brand was then set in stone by designing a brochure, newspaper ads, door hangers, in-store signage and this cartridge box. All materials were printed on recycled paper.

Ozinga Green Building

Leading ready-mix concrete supplier Ozinga Bros needed help to organize and promote their new environmentally-friendly concrete products. This was a concept piece that came with a package of soil and grass seed. Watering the grass shows how Filtercrete moves water from above its surface to below through tiny holes, eliminating standing water and recharging the aquifer. It was targeted at architects and city planners who might put this on their desk and continue to use it.

Attack Athletics

About

I am a designer living and working in Chicago. Concepting websites and print design is what I love.

I've worked in product, catalog, book and branding design. I've spent the last few years designing brand identities, print collateral, packaging, ads, concepting microsites, developing information architectures and designing website applications with www.cultivatestudios.com.

I also get into animation and compositing using After Effects. I create illustrations for personal screenprinting projects in my spare time.
